finished a Continent, time to take a look back on the used Equipment...
The Bike:The Bike proved well till now. Except the things i discribed here it did his daily job without lamenting at all. I was a little bit afraid of the wobbeling frame in the beginning but now i am used to it and was always able to handle it. Except of the both upgrades (Bearings and Hub) the configuration from the start is still working and should do this a few thousand kilometers more. In Istanbul i installed an additional front-carrier. Not for additional Luggage but just for Daily purchases and the Water-Bag for Showering in the Wild. I always had problems to fix this things on top of my bags....
The Tent:
My shelter did a good job till now. The Decision to buy a bigger Tent Einfront of the Trip was right. A lot of Days i put my totally dirty luggage in the Apsis and enjoyed the (clean) space inside my inner Tent. After two weeks i felt onto my tent while building it up and deformed one of the Poles. But it is still working although it is not exactly round anymore...
The Zippers of the Entrance don´t work proper the last days. Send an Email to Terra Nova and wait for Answer. Hope to get some Spare-Zippers for the Case of Emergency...
The Tent was a jackpot and i would buy it again!
The Kitchen:
The Cooker made me some Problems... the injector-nozzle has been modified from Edelrid and has a kind pf a filter on the downside. With this Filter it was almost impossible to clean the nozzle. After i had a lot of Problems with the dirty nozzle i found a workshop that drilled pout the filter for me. After that the nozzle works more proper... The Stand of the cooker is also botched work. It´s simple but not stabile. the feet get deformed and slip out of their mountings. It´s a thing they could do better the next time...
The windshield is fabulous. The Bag for storing it is gone already but it is not necessary to use it.
The cooking Pots work well, they weren´t new at the start but didn´t show any weakness till now.
The Technology:
The DSLR still shoots very nice pictures. After 2000km i thought the Lens is shakily but it didn´t get worse since then. My Polarisation-Filter got some schartches from a broken Lenscap, but you could not see the scratches on the pictures...
The Macbook (except to his outdated Processor that teached me to be humbleness) did his job without any problems.
The Chargers proved totally. My daily Devices (GPS, iPhone, Light,Ebook-Reader) i could charge perfectly with my e-Werk. The USB-Charger for the Camera-Batteries work also proper with regular energy. If i have enough distance with more than 16km/h a day i could charge everything proper. If there is to much ascend over the day there is not enough energy to charge my stuff and after 2 or 3 Days i ran out of energy. Let´s see how it works in remote regions...
The Panniers:
The Vaude-Front-Panniers i replaced in Romania and now i am really happy with the new Ortlieb Ones. The Back-Panniers from Laude work proper till now and they offer a little bit more Space than the Ortlieb-Models.
The Packsack was changed in Istanbul against a Ortlieb model that can also used as a Backpack. The reason for that was that the humidity from the wet tent eats up the Metallparts of my Back-Pack. So i send it together with my Daypack, that started to rip apart, home.
The Handlebar-Bag (i replaced it in Nürnberg/Germany) do a proper Job and with the Kamera-Inlay it offers the perfect place for my DSLR and all the Stuff i needed near my Hands... The Map-Cover works proper also after 6 Months... Excellent!
The Wardrobe:
My Choice of Clouthings make sense till now. Just my long trousers i needed to fix in Bukarest. One of my shirts (that was with holes at the Start) Sargs to disappear totally. I have to get a Replacement on a Market somewhere...
Now Winter is coming, it will show how the Stuff will prove in this different conditions and still will go along with me in Spring... Jetzt kommt der Winter, es wird sich zeigen was sich auch im Winter bewährt und mich im Frühjahr noch begleitet... It will be a Surprise for me (and also for you)...
