Tajikistan
my impressions from Pamir Highway
Ready for Take off in Dushanbe
a Boy selling Brushes next to the Road
soviet Architecture in every Town
Kids always begging for a picture
on Day two it gets curvy and hilly
The Scenery wents more and more Mountainous
the road gets rougher
and the campsites more and more extraordinary
The Bridge into the GBAO-Area
following the Valley upwards
crossing a lot of little streams
sometimes the valley opens and the civilisation starts again
a typical 'Magazin' along the way
meeting some shepherds
on the way to school
After hitchhiking with the army to the top of the Pass... totally Dust covered
slaughtering next the road
Earthmoving Machines every few kilometers to keep the road free over the year
The road winds along the steep valley downwards
i had to stop at every corner to enjoy the view
at the end i reached Kalaikhum in the Panj-River Valley
beautiful shady roads lead outside the town
then the scenerie gets rocky and you always have a view to the villages of Afghanistan on the other side of the River
Celebration on the Riverbanks, 20000km and 1 Year on the Road
bad roads follow the narrow valley
also here: when the valley opens they start with agricultural use
young shepherds
most of the time you are sourrounded by gigantic mountains
hot and dusty days down there
Roadsign short after Khorog, a lot of km to go to Osh...
the Valley after Khorog is green and climbing very smooth
The Landslide Area... sneaking through the Construction-Site
the Village got partly lost in the new Lake
cycling towards the Mountains, somewhere around 3000m over Sealevel
a well stocked 'Magazin'
Kids on the Bike
Evening Mood
Always a Glacier around the Corner
a suspension bridge next to the Road...
with growing altitude the landscape get rougher...
and the weather turns bad infront of the Pass
View back from the Pass into the Valley
Up on 4217m the first high Pass is managed!
desertlike scenery with abandonded villages
the Roadquality on the first day was not that good
moonlike Landscape on the Highplateau
Breathtaking! thin Air and the fantastic Landscape
when there is water it gets greener and you can find villages
Snowcapped Mountains over 6000m in the Evening-Light
Katharina filtering Water...
Traffic! one of the few trucks coming down the Roads
The Colours of the Mountains were fantastic
taking a Break on the Middle of the Road, no Problem with no Traffic
in a Yurt along the Road, they serve us food... Very nice!
in the Valleys it gets greener
The Murghab River Valley in the Evening Light
Riding down into it
Murghab! The first and only bigger settlement on the Plateau
Mustagh Ata a 7500m high giant in China, glooming in the Sunset
The Dining Room of the Homestay in Murghab
riding through Murghab
The Basar offers everything you need
Carpet-Cleaning on the Riverbanks
He is still keeping an Eye on them: Lenin
This Bridge got Lost in the Floods of early summer

Rush-Hour on M41
totally lonely cycling... Very Special
The Pass in front of us
The Sign is situated at the Foot of the Pass
Got it! Highest Point of Pamir at 4655m
Yaks eating their ancestors...
The road straightly leads to Lake Karakul
Enjoying the Scenery with Patrik
The Village of Karakul
Our Homestay in a Yurt
Leaving Karakul the next day
Yaks along the chinese borderfence
The Desert around Lake Karakul
on the Way to the next Pass
On top of it: 4272m over Sealevel
the Vegetation up here is very sparsly
getting into a windy and sandy valley that brakes us totally...
Beautiful Scenery with views to the sourrounding Glaciers
The Sand is crawling over the Hills
The Colours always keeps me stopping
taking a windstill rest behind the Roadsign
the Bordercrossing on tajik Side
on Kyzyl Art Pass, the Border to Kyrgystan
sometimes you get the Entry-Picture when you leave the Country: Welcome to Tajikistan...
